What We Do

Offering strength and hope each day, every day

Helping a child fight their illness or recover from an accident takes an emotional and financial toll on a family. When that care is far from home, travel and lodging costs begin piling up. Ronald McDonald House Charities® Northern Nevada supports families who have a child receiving treatment with an area provider. Since 1987, we’ve created and supported programs that directly improve their health and well-being through these four programs:

Ronald McDonald House Program

Guest families, who live 30 miles outside of Reno/Sparks, come home to a delicious meal and connect to other families in similar situations before resting. Families often say their proximity to the hospital gives them time to shadow doctors and nurses and learn more about their child’s continued healthcare.

Family Room Program

For families with a child in Renown Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald Family Room provides a safe haven within the hospital to briefly step away from their child’s room. Parents can use the room to enjoy coffee near the fireplace, grab a snack, or take a nap in the sleep room.

Care Mobile Program

With help from our medical partner, Community Health Alliance, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile delivers oral health screenings, nutrition education, immunizations and referral/follow-up appointments to children.

Travel-for-Treatment Program

The Travel-for-Treatment program provides financial travel assistance to parents when a child’s medical treatment is not available in their local area. Our goal is to ensure the cost of travel does not affect a child’s ability to get the care they need.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern Nevada is part of a global network that includes more than 365 Ronald McDonald Houses worldwide. Availability of programs varies from House to House.
